Using Cryptocurrency To Inspire Environmentalism

Updated: Nov 18, 2021

Connecting cryptocurrency to the environment is no easy task. However, we are up to the challenge.

Maybe you haven't heard of us yet, that's OK. We are the Gaia Coin Foundation, a North Carolina Non-profit organization that connects the environment to the blockchain through people. We have created a tokenomics model that records initiatives on the blockchain through NFT and cryptocurrency. We think with the proper application; cryptocurrency can save the planet. As more people understand the potential impact of an environmental ledger, a new incentivization model emerges. I'll explain more in a bit, but first.

Our First Environmental Initiative

We came armed with our pickers, bags, and vests, ready to take on the summer heat. Our Foundation removed 15 bags of trash on a two-mile stretch of highway on Sunday, August 29th. We were utterly amazed at the number of debris we recovered on a seemingly clean road. Amazingly enough, we found more beer cans along the side of the road than anything. We were even more disturbed that the beer choice was so terrible. So please think twice before tossing your can of "The Beast" out of your window.

Minting the event on the Ethereum Blockchain

Everyone that participated in the event received 40,000 Gaia Coins. We are also in the process of creating our NFT brand so we can mint the event and place it up for auction. Once complete, we will be notifying the top Ethereum holders of our auction. Proceeds from the auction will provide liquidity for the Gaia Coin on a decentralized dex soon.

How can you get involved?

We are always looking for environmentally or crypto-centric people to join us. There are three ways you can get involved. The first is by submitting your project to the Foundation. If you have an idea or vision that you would like to bring to life, reach out to us. If we like it, we will either find you a sponsor or partner with you ourselves. Another way to help is to become a direct volunteer. Everyone is good at something. We could always use help with social media, marketing, planning, and educating the community. Lastly, you could either sponsor one of our events or become a micro sponsor by purchasing Gaia Coins. We have something for everyone.

Lastly, please share our story and maybe join us on our next adopt-a-highway clean-up. It will take place on December 4th at 11 AM. We will be meeting in the parking lot of The River of Life Church on 4914 Liberty Rd in Greensboro, NC. These Adopt-a-Highway events are our first time testing out our tokenomics model. Join us on our mission. Please help us build Gaia!
